Brighton had so much fun everywhere we went. She did great in the car...she wasn't fussy at all except for when she was hungry. She just slept a lot and would play by herself, or Sean would sit back there with her. Sometimes she sings in the car when she's just sitting back there alone. It's really cute.Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-24240908714937629432010-09-02T12:33:00.001-07:002010-09-02T17:01:32.598-07:00Long time comin...<span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">So it's been forever since I've updated this. Well, the first night we did it, she cried for like 15 minutes, then went completely silent. We were so curious to see if she fell asleep so we crept into her room, and it's really dark. We look into her crib and we can't see her anywhere! Her blankets were right in the middle of the crib and we were like...I guess she could be under them, but we had no idea how she would get herself completely under her blankets. So I'm looking around some more, and as I look at the corner of the crib facing the door, I see her! She's standing up, holding on to the bars starting at the door. Then she slowly turns her head to us and sees us, and starts screaming! It was straight out of a horror movie, she scared us so bad...we were cracking up!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1QJod0GOVH4F6Lwa2v2C2skqbAxphDEduTZMWkLuwP9sU0VsOly9CGiwEqoEKAM9GaqriSIpdGhOmgXpnUeVorALjA6-5qvqPOFGUUuWaDDEW9u3UI7GrVObSemqib6PqAEKssBORVA/s1600/CAM_1947-1.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 180px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1QJod0GOVH4F6Lwa2v2C2skqbAxphDEduTZMWkLuwP9sU0VsOly9CGiwEqoEKAM9GaqriSIpdGhOmgXpnUeVorALjA6-5qvqPOFGUUuWaDDEW9u3UI7GrVObSemqib6PqAEKssBORVA/s320/CAM_1947-1.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5512463432145803938" border="0" /></a>This picture isn't from that night, but it gives you some perspective. Just the other day, she rolled over for the first time!! I'll try to get a video up. She did it about 5 times in a row, and then I think it made her a little sick because she started spitting up a ton. But she loves to roll now. Rolling milestone: check. <br /><br />She has become extremely more vocal. I don't know if all babies do it, or if it's just her, but she'll just scream and yell. She's not crying at all, just yelling really really loud. Other than needing earplugs, it's actually pretty cute. I think she's going to be a singer, like Mariah Carey style. haha. She also just talks to herself all the time, it's nice to have her play with herself for a little bit so I can get a little bit more done in the day. It's a good day when I can find time to take a shower. She is still sleeping just awesome through the night. That has really helped me sustain my sanity I think. <br /><br />She just had her 4 month check up and she now weighs just over 13 lbs. She is getting so heavy! And she officially has grown out of her size 1 diapers.<br /><br />She's starting to suck on her bottom lip, it's so funny, and she's learning how to spit bubbles.<br /><br />She is getting so strong! She can get a really good grip on my hair.<br /><br />So that's how Brighton is doing these days. As for Sean and me, we are just really excited to move back to Utah. Even if it's just for a year or so. We can't wait to see everyone!<br /><br />Oh! My sister just had her baby this morning!! His name is Micah and he weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. I haven't seen a picture yet, but when I do, I'll post it on here! I bet he's just a stud.Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-74456376941420426332010-01-29T13:59:00.000-08:002010-01-29T19:33:53.385-08:00Photo Shoot<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjttquBcG10u-SpJH53CanaJy8iiDYk6sNBxo5RwouA_yww2okHomkxYL7wnDL0hZT-WO5CgNE0qssEWo-qTU3iMj1XvhkZ3C4b_Ato8LMIWupByjB4ewY0YC-KhTg3QIP10DqsNl3Ufw/s1600-h/Scan_Pic0002.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjttquBcG10u-SpJH53CanaJy8iiDYk6sNBxo5RwouA_yww2okHomkxYL7wnDL0hZT-WO5CgNE0qssEWo-qTU3iMj1XvhkZ3C4b_Ato8LMIWupByjB4ewY0YC-KhTg3QIP10DqsNl3Ufw/s320/Scan_Pic0002.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432285831337283938" border="0" /></a><br />So Brighton got her first professional pictures taken...for free! There's a lady in our ward that is trying to put together a baby picture book and needed babies to photograph. So she called me up and asked if she could use Brighton. It's the same one that I wore when I was blessed. My mom made it. So it's really special to me. There are some really cute ones of these. I'll definitely be getting some more soon.<br /><br />I think Brenda did a wonderful job with these. You wouldn't be able to tell, because Brighton looks so sweet, but it was a HUGE hassle to get these pictures. I was there for about 5 hours! Brighton was not a very happy camper, I think she just doesn't like being messed with.<br /><br />Other than this, Brighton is still just growing and growing. She is a drool machine so I always have to keep a bib on her. She always has a hand in her mouth, sometimes both at the same time.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6GoKLNU8B0LQiUHT5Y9g-SEDRdt5l1kxLDTy8k-WE7mEJuvJhyphenhyphenyYSv3PE0ux9vCXdrhh9YokJMyOOcWTV-BDabYORdWUm8Obdy8xcd0Q11kAES5O4Yv0ReInGW-PF8zJfxGTbzFfBjQ/s1600-h/Scan_Pic0006.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6GoKLNU8B0LQiUHT5Y9g-SEDRdt5l1kxLDTy8k-WE7mEJuvJhyphenhyphenyYSv3PE0ux9vCXdrhh9YokJMyOOcWTV-BDabYORdWUm8Obdy8xcd0Q11kAES5O4Yv0ReInGW-PF8zJfxGTbzFfBjQ/s320/Scan_Pic0006.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5432318110837424018" border="0" /></a><br />Her bum rash is just about gone. I feel so bad, for 1/3 of her whole life she has had that bum rash. But we just started her on antibiotics and it's practically gone now. She doesn't scream anymore when we change her diaper. She'll just grow out of it.<br /><br />We are all so excited to see grandma and grandpa Harward! We can't wait! In the beginning of this month, he was setting out on a "cruise" from Virginia to California. They were going to make some stops along the way to places in South America like Brazil and Peru and stuff, but shortly after they departed, the earthquake in Haiti happened. So since their ship, the Carl Vincent, was nearby, they were the very first ship to arrive there to help and allow planes to land on the ship for supplies.<br /><br />So far, Eric hasn't been able to help out much, but pretty soon he will be. So if you ever see any footage of Haiti, and there's a Navy ship in the background, that's him. He also said that the main doctor there (the Hispanic looking one that's always on TV) comes on his ship sometimes because they've brought people on there to treat medically. I think it's so neat. It's going to be a really cool experience for him and it makes me feel like I'm a part of it in a way. It's so tragic what has happened and it's really hard to watch some of the footage, especially while I'm holding Brighton and thinking of all the mothers that have lost their little babies and children, and vise-versa. It's just unbearable.<br /><br />It's good to hear from Eric, since he can't call, we've actually heard from him more often through e-mails. I think he's really lonely or just bored. Either way, it makes me happy to hear from him. He's not sure if the ship is still planning on going to Brazil and all that, or if they'll just stay in Haiti for the remainder of the cruise. It would be neat for him to see all those places, but he's excited to be able to help out in Haiti. I'm so proud of him. I can't wait for him to meet Brighton.Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-63725467400035313482010-01-18T17:05:00.000-08:002010-01-18T17:57:22.177-08:00I Am a Child of God...<div><br /></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgATl8MKu1IRAHEH_NGYmUa5G6D1YyABdyAjpxQ8Atu8XQfyjCaOT-l09tBMxWedoS62DSD_YiW9s_562fcoyd1AdhDkPqp_E2PyYT7Hn6LgRZfqgeDtahvvogMQRvs35AjUGqs3Mc5WA/s1600-h/CAM_0549.JPG"><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgATl8MKu1IRAHEH_NGYmUa5G6D1YyABdyAjpxQ8Atu8XQfyjCaOT-l09tBMxWedoS62DSD_YiW9s_562fcoyd1AdhDkPqp_E2PyYT7Hn6LgRZfqgeDtahvvogMQRvs35AjUGqs3Mc5WA/s320/CAM_0549.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428243852264581890" style="display: block; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: auto; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: auto; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 318px; height: 320px; " /></a><br />This was the first Sunday that we took Brighton to church. The doctors told us to wait 90 days to take her out because of the swine flu and everything, but 3 months seems a little ridiculous. Everyone at church has been asking Sean and my parents about her, and we're feeling comfortable enough now to take her. Church starts at 9:00, so it was a very early morning. But we were only half an hour late. I still need to work on giving myself enough time to get ready plus getting Brighton ready. She likes to take her time going to the bathroom. <div><br /></div><div>She still has a really bad yeast infection on her bum, it hasn't gotten any better even with the medication. So if anyone has any advice...</div><div>I've been giving her warm baths and letting her have naked wiggle time, but today she pooped in the tub and then in her towel, so sometimes it's harder than it should be.</div><div><br /></div><div>On the plus side, she sleeps freaking awesome through the night. I don't know why the quality of the video is so weird when I put it on here, but oh well, she's still cute. </div></div><div><br /></div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dzQQP4dbhYeVXGeOszka9VM-67y6jkgtfNCQqW4z9PHVmUgZYTJRYSyOJ_V_kqpo__OTiOnXdj50JrrYEMpVg' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe><div><br /></div><div><br /></div>Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-91822240287608544532010-01-12T13:10:00.000-08:002010-01-12T13:54:25.853-08:002 Months...<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdJcNjvTwscYuhI4M2lvNkhruXR3LO-Kvba15sgs564PiLndblWGbxjGoWEwJbcgcvVvHh-2_ROLZusChQLUgH5YhlqzEy7895KzlIW5hdgV8k8eP4GWQJzXSM-N7mQlXN7WyDcsPqyw/s1600-h/CAM_0527.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 180px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdJcNjvTwscYuhI4M2lvNkhruXR3LO-Kvba15sgs564PiLndblWGbxjGoWEwJbcgcvVvHh-2_ROLZusChQLUgH5YhlqzEy7895KzlIW5hdgV8k8eP4GWQJzXSM-N7mQlXN7WyDcsPqyw/s320/CAM_0527.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425972061095513426" /></a><br />So Brighton is 2 months and a few days now and we just visited the Dr. yesterday. She was so good, even when they gave her immunization shots. Well, she screamed, but she calmed down pretty quickly. I felt so bad, I couldn't even watch them do it, she had to get 3. She has so much going on with her. She has the worst rash on her little bum, so the Dr. prescribed some cream for that. She also has some sort of viral disease that caused a rash on her body. Her face is really dry, especially her ears, so I've been lathering her up with lotion. <div><br /></div><div>Another kind of serious thing that I found out yesterday, is she has a heart murmur. It's normal for newborns to have it, but I guess not at 2 months. So we have to take her in to get an ultrasound. We're really praying that nothing is serious. </div><div><br /></div><div>I asked about Brighton's eyes to see when they'll change color because they're still kind of that dark grayish/blue color, and the Dr. said she suspects that they'll just stay that way, like a dark blue/hazel color. Sean's still a little skeptical. Especially because of my ethnicity, it just seems like brown would be completely dominate. But if they do stay blue, that would be so awesome! It would have been fun to have the first brown eyed baby on Sean's side, but I'm definitely OK with blue or hazel. I read that they can continue to change up to 9 months or even longer, so I guess we'll see...</div><div><br /></div><div>Brighton is getting blessed on Feb 7th and we are so excited for everyone who's coming out! She'll be wearing the same dress I was blessed in that my mom made. So that's really special to me. I can't wait! I hope I make it to church on time though! We just moved to the 9:00 time and it's an hour away, so it'll be an early day.</div><div><br /></div><div>Well, that's pretty much what's going on with Brighton these days. She just continues to melt our hearts with her smiles and coos and how she can't poop without her face turning into a tomato and making her grunting noises.</div>Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-61294048183404836662009-12-29T12:10:00.000-08:002009-12-29T13:50:36.190-08:00<div><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dw-FV79j_DJsEr0Nj6JP_SNJwB1pu1glZ2YGf6aADCpq2cjmh3ux9Fh-tIB3_-dOdpCizr3iU6pt29kUOpo3g' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><div><br /></div><div>This is the cutest thing. It was Brighton's first and she totally won with getting the most presents. She got so many fun toys that she's been playing with. She especially likes the ones that make lots of noise. She got dressed up in her Christmas dress that great aunt Bonnie made for her and just looked adorable! We hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and will enjoy the New Year!Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-61637553711558956822009-12-14T15:33:00.000-08:002009-12-14T15:52:02.342-08:00Grandma Time!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxZB1dXg3tUoU5KHldBNkydRk2Ku7uvCWpYmtB2tD9tf5Oj9AyU6U3pyprbmrZ0Vua72LR3jaxRy8lCaCH_IeWXFRsIRvkIRIC_bu1voZyVeKJdb2oQsSDIaNAd_AaHq2xTINrGD6G0Q/s1600-h/CAM_0334.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5415242066308443906" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 180px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxZB1dXg3tUoU5KHldBNkydRk2Ku7uvCWpYmtB2tD9tf5Oj9AyU6U3pyprbmrZ0Vua72LR3jaxRy8lCaCH_IeWXFRsIRvkIRIC_bu1voZyVeKJdb2oQsSDIaNAd_AaHq2xTINrGD6G0Q/s320/CAM_0334.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><div>More family fun with Grandma Harward! She came up this last week and Brighton was so excited to meet her! She got a lot of grandma time. She loves being held, and I know grandma loves holding her babies! It was so much fun. I love when family is around. Sean got to take his mom around the area and even though it was cold, we had nice sunny blue days. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>We took Brighton out for the first time (besides dr. appointments) and we went to Costco. I got a good dose of what it's going to be like taking her out. Good thing both of my moms were with me, cuz it wore both Brighton and me out. She enjoyed the car ride, but not much else. The up side to it all was that she slept really well through the night!</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Thanks so much, Rae, for coming up. That was so special. And thanks for all your help and love!</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Sean and I took Brighton out to the mall after her Dr. appointment the other day. And again, she was not a very happy camper. So it was a pretty quick trip. But we got most of our Christmas shopping done. That night, I got 5 consecutive hours of sleep before she woke up the first time! I think we need to take her out more often!</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>So today is my birthday...and my husband is just amazing. He made me breakfast this morning. Then he watched Brighton for a little bit while I took a bath. (My mom's idea!) Brighton also got a bath today and it was the first time she didn't cry through it! I think she's finally starting to like them. Sean's downstairs right now making me rice crispy treats!! So yummy. They are my favorite. And he's wrapping my presents...(I feel like I need to thank Rae for this, otherwise I bet he would be out right now trying to find me something for my birthday.) ;o)</div><div> </div><div>Anyway...I'm finally starting to scrapbook some of Brighton's pictures. It's a lot of fun, but I don't get too much done at a time. </div><div> </div><div>That's about it for now! </div>Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-25341841373249765722009-12-04T18:53:00.000-08:002009-12-04T19:05:29.415-08:00<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg09iUqAkZup8ntOkTvInX5Yfv1rT_Xdh42U8E25jCipO5q_KLMAdb_UfuugTUX_4qz0_0p5rjX_6v3wzp_1CCuBs_lyJ9lvrRDLwpA26uPb3DtKZrkao03duUfgX1dVELlF6ViDYCPpg/s1600-h/CAM_0306.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5411580317498166722" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 180px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg09iUqAkZup8ntOkTvInX5Yfv1rT_Xdh42U8E25jCipO5q_KLMAdb_UfuugTUX_4qz0_0p5rjX_6v3wzp_1CCuBs_lyJ9lvrRDLwpA26uPb3DtKZrkao03duUfgX1dVELlF6ViDYCPpg/s320/CAM_0306.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />Brighton's cousin, Malia, came to visit this week. It's been so much fun having my sister here. Malia has not quite warmed up to Brighton yet, she's just a little timid. We tried to get some cute pictures of them together, and this is the best one we got. We also tried to get a picture or Malia holding Brighton, but she wasn't having it. But it's really cute when Brighton cries, Malia comes over to see what's going on and she has this cute little concerned face on and she'll put her hand on her like she wants to comfort her. <br /><br />This picture's really fun for me because they're both wearing dresses that Tonya and I wore when we were their ages. My mom even made the red one that Malia's wearing. And then there are the old school Tinker Toys...it's just fun.Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-9456904431193937922009-11-26T22:31:00.001-08:002009-11-26T23:32:11.472-08:00Brighton's First Thanksgiving<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5408668625925014322" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 180px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidtP_XYaxzLlx9ETCW9iWg4tU-Ib-YVho_RgJsC8sWTyQZPn8bDOAp9VTbdAX9FyCvZ9Eh6ABJfPeTs-OEVlf52iKklDFPR_8tWVIl54L6nIMaqLU47Bo7JM_8NVGquSnvRTa9tNiuIg/s320/CAM_0240.JPG" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5408668645076726130" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-KxEgxxTDEP__GJlqbKANI-5XFMqC3zn10YqaXA7eeV4ZdSw6sgx_4HDDTEPRMCk6Fi7KGn_i6B4Fm4pYQLSkHCpO6herDMrCwmJ5njZ5GCDEFc9ByMBO3h3RuH6QXQndS095vRa6kQ/s320/Brighton+Thanksgiving+052.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5408668634445686786" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 180px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicp9neLvucJIi4zFc00OPQN5s_kV6U1ZVaERUPW1bjpj5df9C1T5mY16bXKRkVOaXXIIIE9YmQGZAgL_Hpjfu4kn3VPsR_KOiNLeFVKnGdWNAdYGUiwgstzPlJW19KA3nfQrAojvgrjg/s320/CAM_0262.JPG" border="0" /><br /><div><br /><br /><div><br />So this was Brighton's very first holiday. And of course, right when everyone sits down to eat, Brighton must have smelled the food because she let us know that she was very very hungry too. By the time she was done eating her Thanksgiving dinner, so was everyone else, so I had to eat mine all alone. Well, not really alone, I was just the only still eating. </div><br /><div>I made my first pumkin pies. Woot. One just original and the other was a pumkin pecan. Sean was very satisfied. He told me about a month ago that there were two things that he needed for Thanksgiving dinner. Pumkin pie and yams. I borrowed Rae's sweet potato apple casserole recipe that I fell in love with last year, and it was just as amazing as I remembered. I've never cared for yams, but I absolutely love this recipe. </div><br /><div>I just have to say also...my dad ate so many sweet potatoes in Vietnam that he has never wanted to eat them ever again. And he told me that in the last 45 years, he's tried eating them a couple times, but has spit them out both times. So he made it a point in telling me that he tried mine this year and he loved them! "Tastes like candy" he said and he even had seconds. Thanks Rae!</div><br /><div>Well, we had a great Thanksgiving with my parents, the Bakers (long time family friends) and a lady that's new in the ward. My parents had to take off tonight so they could fly to Utah tomorrow for my cousin's wedding. So now, Sean, Brighton and I get to eat all the leftovers all to ourselves...yum!! They'll be there until Tuesday so this will be the first time it'll just be Sean and I with Brighton. Wierd. It's been so nice to have my mom here because she will watch her when I need to take a shower or take a nap and she's always there to talk to when I get bored. It'll be wierd not to have her around, even if it's just for a few days. </div><br /><div>Anyway...I'm so excited for Tonya and Malia to come on the 1st. Brighton will get to meet one of her cousins for the first time. And then Rae is coming on the 6th. I can't wait! I can't even believe that Brighton will be just about a month by then. It's going slow and fast at the same time if that's even possible. It seems like we've been home with her for longer than two weeks, but when I think about her turning a month, I'm like... a month already?! She's changing so fast already. I can feel her getting heavier. And she keeps experimenting with her squealing and grunting noises. She's definitely getting louder. She's getting some cubby cheeks (I guess some people call them their nursing cheeks). When we first brought her home, she had such a skinny little face, but not anymore! They are just so kissable now. I love her so so much. I keep falling more and more in love every day. She makes me laugh all the time with her funny faces and noises she makes. After she nurses, she's just like putty in my hands and she gets super cuddly. I just love it. </div><br /><div>I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. </div><div><br /><br /></div><div></div></div>Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-1048758028970759972009-11-14T09:44:00.000-08:002009-11-16T16:18:48.637-08:00So in love...<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKEfxbNDV_wFzS9hwoByYwsrQlO_e_omSt868V-8yMrMKC-YHWGpcqsZIcUI21HE0P62nXVBrpZo2i1cXnHLGd-iAP54o6rLGDONlOGlHRjjueEGR-_-ZOLp2Q4zcfkhD2yGiPWdn4NA/s1600-h/IMG_4245.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5404052988304235602" style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKEfxbNDV_wFzS9hwoByYwsrQlO_e_omSt868V-8yMrMKC-YHWGpcqsZIcUI21HE0P62nXVBrpZo2i1cXnHLGd-iAP54o6rLGDONlOGlHRjjueEGR-_-ZOLp2Q4zcfkhD2yGiPWdn4NA/s320/IMG_4245.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvOhzuQzgipl0f1zCIBY1C7Sct1AWaRLO5YWhtPSWfUjbpZyGjcR1wRZ2zcOvwnS0t9-sRmCS8y_zig1AodtprN3uikoA8tiGK6-oophexQeE7RObXh8CBhzGc2KiFe_hHuEaGQhvtqw/s1600-h/CAM_0077.JPG"></a><br /><br /><div>Wow, it's been a long week. Finally, Brighton is home with us. She sure went through a lot the first few days of her life, but she's a strong little girl. She was born on Sunday 11/8/09 at 2:01 am. (Just two hours after her actual due date.) She weighed 5 lbs 14 oz and was 19 inches long. The cord was wrapped around her neck and she had some maconium that they had to suction out of her lungs, but when that was taken car of, she was alert and healthy looking and had the cutest little cry. As soon as she heard Daddy's voice, she stopped and looked right at him. She just couldn't take her eyes off of him even when I was holding her. Our doctor was just about to go home before she thought to check her blood sugar. If she was even one ounce bigger, they never would have checked, but since she was on the smaller size, they did, and her blood sugar was really low. It dropped down to 14. (It's supposed to be higher than 50.) So they took immediate action trying to get it up. They had to get an IV in her for a glucose drip and they had to get some blood work so she was poked so many times. It was really hard to watch. The heels of her feet are so sore. Her blood sugar still wasn't up enough, so they had to gavash her...meaning stick a tube down her throat. All three of us are so traumatized. Not quite what I was hoping the first few hours of Brighton's life would be like. Sean and I hardly got to hold her before they decided to transfer her to another hospital 2 hours away. The one we were at was a smaller hospital and did not have the clearance to keep her there with the IV. </div><br /><div>Everything was such a blur to me, I hadn't gotten any sleep for the last 3 nights because I had such bad contractions and then all of this happened right after her birth. So I was just out of it. And then they came and took my baby away. They wouldn't allow us to go with them in the ambulance. They wanted us to stay and get some rest, but Sean couldn't take it. Shortly after they left, he went to the other hospital to be with her. They couldn't discharge me yet, so I had to stay there until that evening. Sean got a lot of bonding time with her at the other hospital in the NICU. He was able to just sit in there and hold her whenever he wanted. Even though she was in the NICU, it wasn't a serious thing, just very stressful and emotionally waring. All they were doing was trying to ween her off of the IV and get her blood sugar stablized. We feel so blessed that it wasn't anything more serious. I don't think we could have handled it. </div><br /><div>I was finally discharge that evening and my mom took me to the other hospital. We got there around midnight, but they don't allow anyone except the parents in the NICU because of the swine flu. So my mom couldn't go see her. (She saw her right after she was born though. And my dad saw her right as they were taking her to the ambulance to transfer her to this hospital.) When I got there, I was so excited!! I finally got to hold her again and was able to nurse her a little bit. I was so happy, but I really hated the nurse that was taking care of her that night. She was not good at her job and she made me feel really bad like she had this attitude of "I can't believe you don't know what you're doing". OK, I've been a mom for exactly 1 day now, of course I have no idea what I'm doing. And she was doing things wrong like when I nursed Brighton, they had to weigh her before and after to see how much she was getting from me since they had her on such a particular feeding schedule. But when she weighed her the first time, she did it without the recieving blanket and then afterwards, she weighed her with it. And she said..."oh wow, she got about 8 oz from you." Sean and I were like are you freaking kidding me? First of all, she nursed for like 2 minutes, and second of all, my milk isn't even in yet, and third, we noticed the blanket thing. But she said, "well, you can see for yourself what the scale says." Shortly after that she pretty much shooed us off. By that time, I was so frustrated and worn out, everything just hit me at once and I finally just broke down and cried for about an hour. There was another nurse that walked by where we were at, and we talked to her about our experience with the nurse and how we were worried Brighton wouldn't get fed since the nurse thought she got enough from me. And this nurse was so nice and caring and she reassured us that everything was fine and that she would address these issues. Ever since then, we had amazing nurses. They still had to poke her foot every 2 hours to check her blood sugar, but everything was looking fine. </div><br /><div>They were slowly weening her off the IV, and on Monday at 9 pm, she was completely off of it. Now, the only thing holding us back from bringing her home, was she wasn't eating well enough on her own. They wouldn't let me nurse her until the IV was out, and she wasn't taking to the bottle, so they were just feeding her through the tube in her nose. Once the IV was out, they let me nurse her, and she did really well. They tested out a few different nipples for her bottle and found one that she liked, and so she was slowly learning to eat on her own. </div><br /><div>On Tuesday, they sent her up the the Intermediate Nursery Unit, where it was a lot quiter. Sean and I were able to be with her all day and it was a lot more intimate because they had curtains that we could close and it finally felt like we had her all to ourselves. They took the tube out of her nose that night and she was eating well enough on her own. </div><br /><div>Wednesday night, they set us up to "room in" with her. So that meant that we we able to sleep in a hospital room with her just around the corner of the nursery. They left us alone except for a couple of routine checks in the night (no more poking though!) And that's when Sean and I got a full dose of what parenting was going to be like. (All the other nights, we were staying in a place called the "Tree House". This was a place that people could stay at for free while a family member was in the hospital. It was just one block from the hospital. So we were able to go and sleep through the night while the nurses took care of Brighton) Anyway...this night, I think we got about an hour of sleep total. This little girl did not want to be put down. Everytime she fell asleep and we put her in the crib, she would just wake back up and cry. It was a rough night. We were exhausted, but we didn't mind. We were just so happy to be with her. They still wanted to make sure she was eating enough, so we had to weigh her before and after I nursed her. But she did so well, I never even had to give her a bottle. </div><br /><div>Thursday afternoon, we were discharged!!! They showed us how to bathe her and went over everything. And then we were free to go! </div><br /><div>Now we're home and she is doing SO well. She slept through the night almost too well. I think she just knows that she's home now and not getting poked and prodded at every couple hours. She's finally relaxed and comfortable. We cannot be any happier. She is just so perfect and beautiful and healthy and so much more than we could even imagine. </div><br /><div>Sean is so cute with her. A natural daddy. Almost every time he held her in the hospital, he would get so emotional and if you know Sean, you know that he doesn't cry very often at all. In fact, I've seen him get teary eyed more in this last week than I have the whole 4 years I've known him. I couldn't ask for a better husband. We went through so much together with all of this, it really strengthed out relationship. Like I said before, we are so so blessed that it wasn't anything more serious. And it's been such a blessing because the nurses were so amazing. They gave us so much advice and help and we got answers to all of our questions and we feel way more prepared to be parents because of all the information we got while we were there. I think if we were to just bring Brighton home straight from the hospital, we would be so lost. </div><br /><div>But here we are, a little family. We are so excited to be parents and we can't wait for everyone to see her. We are planning to do the baby blessing in Utah sometime in January. </div><br /><div>We are so in love with our daughter. </div><br /><div></div></div>Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2438972254428056807.post-46293968483222717172009-10-29T23:04:00.000-07:002009-10-29T23:19:18.343-07:00New Beginnings<div align="left"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;color:#ff99ff;">So I'm just figuring this all out. I thought I better set one up before the baby comes so I can post pictures and everything for the family. </span></div><div align="left"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;color:#ff99ff;"></span> </div><div align="left"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;color:#ff99ff;">Sean and I are SO excited to be parents. I'm very anxious and ready to have this baby already. Her due date is November 7th. We are crossing our fingers that she doesn't come on Halloween. Purely selfish reasons of course...we all know that's Sean's favorite holiday and I don't think he'd appreciate having to throw a birthday party every year on it. So anytime after that I'm OK with. Unless it goes past the due date...</span></div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;color:#ff99ff;">P.S. Sean's watching Anastasia right now... just thought everyone should know.</span></div>Jenniehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00303980756578057127noreply@blogger.com0
